Residential Homes

HelpingHandUK’s two Registered Residential Homes cater for people with profound challenging behaviour and who require intense support 24 hours a day. The homes are regularly inspected by Social Services and HelpingHandUK’s own Evaluation and Monitoring service to ensure a high quality service is maintained at all times. Each resident has their own bedroom and some are wheelchair accessible.

There is a comfortable lounge, dining room and well equipped kitchen, and a well-maintained garden, with ramps at front and rear. Full activities are provided as part of the Home’s daily programme, these include home maintenance, cookery, arts & crafts, sports, music  therapy and vocational training and leisure activities in HelpingHandUK Community Centre and Soap Workshop.

Staff provide round-the-clock support. They receive on-going training and are all DBS accredited. The home aims to encourage residents to lead as independent a life as they are able, and several have successfully moved on to Supported Housing.

Fees vary according to the need of the client, and the level of support is determined by Social Services together with HelpingHandUK’s Family Support Co-ordinator. All are accepted on a trial basis to ensure compatibility with the other residents.

HelpingHandUK also provides residential respite care for people who need a short term placement. This can be accessed through Social Services or privately.
